Clinical Innovations have announced the introduction of the KIWI™ Vacuum Delivery System. When Dr J Simpson first officially noted the use of vacuum in fetal delivery, over 150 years ago, few people could have realised its impact on practical obstetrics today. In recent years, much work has been done to improve the outcome of vacuum delivery for all concerned – the baby, the mother and the obstetrician.
Better clinical understanding and training, coupled with the technical advances in thermoplastic technology and design, now allow the introduction of the world’s first truly integrated disposable vacuum delivery system, The KIWI™ Vacuum Delivery System. This means no more noisy vacuum pumps, large cups and endless feet of tubing - just a small complete system that you throw away when you're done.
The KIWI™ is an integral unit designed for complete control without the need of an assistant. The PalmPump™ provides a safe and effective source of vacuum right in the palm of your hand.
The KIWI™ system has been designed with two different style cups: The ProCup™ for normal low occiput anterior and outlet procedures, and the OmniCup™, with a hyper-low mushroom shaped profile, for low occiput posterior asynclitic and lateral fetal malpositions. Both products incorporate a unique traction device, which allows the operator a considerable amount of flexibility in manipulation. The KIWI™ system is easy-to-use, effective, quiet and above all, less psychologically threatening for the mother-to-be.
