Staff and patients at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire are the first to benefit from the latest ultrasound system from Siemens, the “Generation NeXt” ACUSON X300.
Used initially in the X-Ray department and the Ante Natal department due to two system breakdowns, the new X300 was then transferred to the Labour Ward where patients are benefitting from the system’s innovative features normally found only on premium systems.
Geraldine Masson, Consultant Obstetrician at North Staffordshire Hospital, confirmed: “The X300 is a hugely useful tool. It’s remarkably flexible and its portability makes it is a real time saver for both doctors and patients. Prior to having this technology, patients had to wait for one to two hours for a scan, but now if we suspect a breech, for example, it can be confirmed within minutes without the patient having to move. The image quality is fantastic and a huge improvement on the enormously bulky machines we had previously”.
Its excellent imaging coupled with penetration up to 30 cms enables uncomplicated examination of patients who are difficult to scan. The system features newest technology flat panel design and is suitable for daily clinical routine, as well as for more complex cardio-vascular examinations, challenging 3D examinations, paediatrics or internal medicine.
The full range of features gives flexibility in all scanning environments from radiology, internal medicine or obstetrics/gynaecology, to basic cardiology examinations.
