Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has enhanced the scanning facilities in its Radiology Department following the installation of three ACUSON S2000™ ultrasound systems from Siemens Healthcare. One of only two Trusts in the UK offering specialist care to women, the hospital is using the systems for general all purpose scanning in obstetric, gynaecological and paediatric examinations.
The S2000s replace older equipment in the hospital including a Siemens SONOLINE Antares™ ultrasound system and are being used for a variety of procedures including neonatal kidney and hip examinations. System software upgrades are ongoing and upon completion the hospital plan on offering 3D ultrasound for pelvic examinations.
“We have a very good working relationship with Siemens and the applications training and support we received was and continues to be of the highest quality,” said Dr Jo McHugo, Consultant Radiologist at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. “With the S2000s in place we hope ultimately to be able to add 3D ultrasound to our range of services.”
