An ACUSON Antares Premium Edition ultrasound system, the first Antares in the South Wales region, was recently purchased by Pontypridd & Rhondda NHS Trust for the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.
The Antares is used predominantly for vascular work, as well as for general examinations and was chosen by the Ultrasound team headed by Lynne Francis, Superintendent Radiographer, particularly for its excellent Doppler capabilities. Roy Hibberd, Senior Radiographer, confirmed: “Our top pre-requisites were to have the highest colour Doppler sensitivity, as well as good ergonomics, and we felt the Antares was the best system on both issues. Staff have found additional features such as the Clarify vascular enhancement software particularly useful when classifying carotid plaques.”
The Antares Premium Edition is a complete ultrasound system providing comprehensive clinical capabilities, research functions, enhanced workflow and user-friendly ergonomics. The Antares system range creates a common brand for our high-end ultrasound systems and provides a complete premium-performance solution, from 2D through 4D, providing integrated tools for diverse clinical practices.
