2,000th Antares in Europe

Siemens’ installation in January of five ACUSON Antares ultrasound systems into St John’s Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex, was cause for celebration as this marked the significant 2,000th Antares installation in Europe.

Sonographers at St John’s have been so pleased with the excellent performance of the new systems and the enhanced diagnostic service these are providing to patients, that an additional two Antares have been purchased. Three of the new systems will be used specifically to support the hospital’s Nuchal Translucency screening programme. The other four systems are used in the Early Pregnancy Unit, and in Outpatients for gynaecology and abdominal examinations.

Leigh Baldock, Senior Sonographer, commented: “We find the systems very easy to use, and the image quality superb. The facility to save the images on screen means our patients can specify their preferred photo to take away.”

By way of justly marking the ‘2,000th Antares’ installation, twelve Ultrasound staff from St John’s joined Tina Hodgson – Business Manager for General Imaging, Jane Rendall – National Sales Manager and Cliona Cunningham – Applications Specialist, for a celebratory dinner at a nearby restaurant.
