A clinical study, using the Ameda Platinum breast pump, was carried out with exclusively pumping NICU mothers. The aim was to demonstrate the pump’s ability to establish a full milk
supply for these mothers. The results showed the average maximum milk production for all of the mothers was 817 mL/day. 35 per cent of the participants achieved greater than 1000 mL/day.
The Ameda Platinum breast pump can achieve the optimum milk production at day six, which is the equivalent milk production of a full term, healthy breastfeeding baby [2]. This is crucial for neonate babies in order to maximise the benefits of colostrum and is much quicker than other more traditional breast pumps.
