Compounded DHEA – the wonder hormone which can help manage menopause symptoms

Compounded DHEA can help manage menopause symptoms and improve energy, clarity of the mind and quality of life.

DHEA is the most abundant steroid hormone in the body, produced in the biggest amounts by the adrenal glands, and in much smaller amounts by the ovaries and testes. It is a precursor to stronger androgens such as testosterone and androstenedione, and the female hormone estrogen, meaning that within the body, it undergoes a series of chemical reactions to ultimately convert to testosterone or estrogen.

Aside from being essential for both men and women, DHEA influences general wellbeing energy levels, and the strength of the immune system. Optimum levels of DHEA are also known to:

  • Help with weight loss
  • Help to deal with stress
  • Reduce joint pain
  • Improve memory
  • Improve immune function
  • Increase energy levels
  • Alleviate symptoms of menopause
  • Increase strength
  • Enhance libido
  • Protect against diabetes

The enhanced production of DHEA in the body starts at puberty, reaching its peak at around 25 – 30 years of age and later declines at the rate of around 2% per year. This decline correlates with perimenopause and menopause symptoms and the signs of ageing.

DHEA also plays a key role in resistance to disease, with low levels being linked to increased susceptibility to illness and health problems. A deficiency of DHEA is very often related to fatigue, lack of motivation, aching joints, loss of muscle tone, weight gain and depression.

Bioidentical DHEA can be prescribed to manage menopause symptoms such as weight gain or depression, and can increase energy levels, clarity of the mind, and improve quality of life.
