University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust has taken a pioneering step in parental education by offering all expectant parents access to MANtenatal, a digital antenatal platform designed specifically for fathers.
The Trust is providing 1,000 free access passes to MANtenatal’s platform for families in the Plymouth area, ensuring those who need support can benefit from confidence-boosting education for expectant dads. Additionally, a further 2,000+ families will benefit from a 20% discount, making father-focused antenatal education more accessible across the region.
This initiative further develops how NHS maternity services support new families. By providing access to MANtenatal’s platform, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust demonstrates its commitment to equipping expectant fathers with essential skills and guidance as they transition into parenthood.
A Game-Changer in Parental Education
Traditionally, antenatal education has focused on expectant mothers, leaving many fathers feeling unprepared and unsupported. MANtenatal bridges this gap with engaging content covering birth preparation, mental wellbeing, baby care, and relationship changes – ensuring fathers feel confident and ready for their new role. The platform also includes a dedicated app and an exclusive Discord community, allowing dads and birth partners to connect and share their experiences in a supportive environment.
Forward-Thinking NHS Innovation
Charlotte Wilton, Head of Midwifery for Women’s and Children’s Services, commented: “We are excited to offer MANtenatal courses to expectant fathers. By providing free access to families and making education more accessible to all, we are ensuring that dads in our community feel supported, informed, and empowered as they embark on the journey to parenthood.”
Gordon Dowall-Potter, Founder of MANtenatal, added: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, a forward-thinking NHS Trust that truly understands the importance of preparing fathers for the birth experience and beyond. By prioritising support for those who need it most and offering wider access to MANtenatal, this initiative ensures that more dads feel equipped and confident as they navigate fatherhood. It’s our mission to make sure that no dad is left behind.”
