Cussons Mum & Me has announced a new Research Fellowship where they will provide sponsorship of £60,000 to support a midwife through a PhD.

The Royal College of Midwives and Wellbeing of Women, a charity dedicated to improving the health of women and babies across the UK, are working in partnership with the Manchester-based mother and baby toiletries brand, designed to take women on the journey of early motherhood from Bump to Baby, to continue its support for caring for the health of women around the world.

The Research Fellowship began its recruitment of their midwife in June and the chosen candidate will begin their sponsored PhD study in September 2014.

Brandon Leigh, PZ Cussons Group Chief Financial Officer, said “Cussons Mum & Me is proud to be sponsoring the Royal College of Midwives and Wellbeing of Women who are working in partnership to provide research training grants for midwives. We are delighted to be supporting a midwife by funding his or her PhD. [We] know how crucial midwives are when it comes to supporting women through all the ups and downs of pregnancy and early motherhood.”

Professor Cathy Warwick, General Secretary of The Royal College of Midwives said: “The research fellowship is a fantastic opportunity for a midwife to further his or her studies and provide greater care to patients. Our commitment to the care of women is central to our organisation and we are looking forward to working in association with a brand who shares this philosophy.”
